people made money doing this. (so did Instagram)

hi, this is my second video. next one is probably about wire fraud if you'd rather read, here's a written version: https://dexdigi.substack.com/p/how-to-make-money-off-the-la-fires šŸ’Œ my newsletter (free): https://dexdigi.substack.com šŸ‘ØšŸ¾ā€šŸ’» my site: https://whatupdex.com šŸ“ø IG: https://instagram.com/dexdigi šŸ¦‹ bsky: https://bsky.app/profile/dexdigi.bsky.social šŸ•¹ļø twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/dexdigi AI (or 'AI art') is probably something we're gonna see more with the whole 'faceless youtube channel' trend, so buckle up. I might make more on this. But more importantly: IF YOU WANT TO HELP rule of thumb: when in doubt, give money, not things. here’s what I mean: if you want to donate something, keep in mind that a lot of orgs are getting bogged down with things they don’t need — tons of clothes when they need toiletries, or canned beans when they need blankets. One thing an org can always use is money. They know what they need best, and they can just buy it. The next issue is who you are giving to. Verifying an organization can be hard, so if there’s one you are familiar with and trust, go with them. If you don’t know any, one very well respected org is http://calfund.org (I have no connection). If you want to do research on a group, you can try Charity Navigator, to see if they’re at least a recognized group, eg https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/953510055 If you don’t have money, but you have time – try hitting up somewhere to volunteer. I’ve seen some places turn people away because they have enough volunteers, but that won’t last. This is a long disaster and people will be needed for the next year, easy. Pick a weekend or afternoon in the next week or so and commit to making that your plan for the day. And if you’re too far away to help, just go do something nice in your own local area. Time spent helping someone is never wasted time. IF YOU NEED HELP here is a list of resources: https://www.lahsa.org/newsArticle/resources-to-support-those-during-the-la-fires If you're a renter and having trouble with your apartment or your rights: https://laist.com/news/housing-homelessness/los-angeles-fires-renters-rights-guide Lastly - PTSD is a serious issue now, and will continue to be for the next months and years. You might have had to flee, or you may be worried about the air. If you are feeling overwhelmed, people are out there who can listen and help. You can call 988 from anywhere in the US. Give them a call, someone will pick up. You can also send a text to 741741. Keep that info in mind - if not for you, for someone else. LOCAL PLACES TO READ If you’re looking for smaller, independent publications that cover neighborhoods, here are a couple I like: lataco.com boyleheightsbeat.com laist.com @gabycaplandocs also made this video on how much prisoners make for fighting fires: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H-oDhybzNs I may add some more to this - if you have suggestions, feel free to leave a comment for others that might find it helpful.

Following the Black Soldiers Who Biked Across America
Police Killed a Boy. His Friend Was Charged With Murder

LaKeith Smith is in prison for murder because a cop killed his friend. In 2015, at the age of 15, Smith and three other Black boys were stealing things from an empty house in Alabama when the police showed up. As Smith ran away, the police fatally shot his friend, A’Donte Washington. Then, they charged Smith with felony murder. He is now serving a 55-year sentence. But now, there is a campaign to bring him home. VICE News investigates what ā€œmurderā€ means in America. -------- Help keep VICE News’ fearless reporting free for millions by making a one-time or ongoing contribution here. - https://vice.com/contribute Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News Check out VICE News for more: http://vicenews.com Follow VICE News here: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@vicenews?lang=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/vicenews Twitter: https://twitter.com/vicenews Instagram: http://instagram.com/vicenews More videos from the VICE network: https://www.fb.com/vicevideo Follow VICE World News here: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@viceworldnews?lang=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/viceworldnews Twitter: https://twitter.com/VICEWorldNews Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/viceworldnews/ #VICENews #News
