small proxies for long footage headed to transcription. Great for uploading over slow connections: it’ll take a 4GB file down to 20 megabytes.
Using it is simple: just drag and drop camera footage (MXF, MOV, MP4) onto the window. You can drop one file, multiple, or a whole folder at a time. BurnInProxy will create smaller versions of each file (called a “proxy”) with the filename and timecode burned into the top right of the picture.
The smaller size and simple format is more compatible for uploading to a transcription service like Descript, Trint, Rev, etc. From there, you can make a rough edit in that service. When you're ready to do a proper edit in an NLE (Premiere, Final Cut, Resolve, etc), just swap the original files in. Most NLEs should be able to do this with a few clicks.
The burned-in part is a failsafe. If you can't sync automatically for some reason, the timestamps are burned into the video so you can re-construct your edits manually.

Multi-track audio is kept intact. And BurnInProxy never touches your originals.
Files are always output to a "burnin_proxies" folder right next to the source files.
